Get Your Workout on a Mexican Active Volcano at El Ceboruco Geological Park

Get ready to take your workout to an entirely new level by visiting a Mexican active volcano at El Ceboruco Geological Park. This natural experience is the perfect environment for anyone who loves a hike, mountain climbing or mountaineering.

Hike Up Mexican Active Volcano

El Coboruco is a Mexican active volcano. It is over 6,500 feet high and though it is indeed active, it hasn’t actually erupted since 1875. It is often known as the ‘black giant’ because of its distinctive color. As you hike up toward the top, you’ll have lots of time to observe this color as well as all the vegetation and wildlife that live here.

Trees including oaks, cedars and pines are alive with birds that will sing to you throughout this gorgeous healthy workout. Breathe in the fresh air and feel your body move as you make your way past all the rare flora and fauna endemic to this region.

The Mexican active volcano is the reason for everything you’ll see. Your workout will be officially transformed from the high temperatures the volcano is holding under the ground. The water vapors it releases are what keep the soil and the air full of moisture. As a result, all the plants are always green and full of life.

A Healthy Natural Workout

It may sound scary to be headed up a Mexican active volcano, but it has been nearly a hundred and fifty years since the last eruption. Still, it makes it the perfect place for high intensity and extreme sports. After you pass about 5,000 feet in elevation, you’ll notice that the path begins to narrow. After that point, the challenge is cranked up a notch. You’ll really need to work to reach the top of the crater, but it’s well worth it.

Hiking in all the fresh air and oxygen put out by all the greenery will only add to the enjoyment as you look over the top and into the stunning natural landscape filling the crater. Head to the lookouts and feel the vastness and power of nature itself. You’ll see the rich, fertile volcano crater on the inside, and you can turn to look out over the rest of the region as well. There, you’ll see for miles, including to the complete urban areas of Ahuacatlan, Jala and Tepatitlan.

Camping Overnight

Spread your workout into an overnight event on this Mexican active volcano by camping there, too. You’ll fall in love with the feeling of observing the landscape surrounding the crater as the sun passes over it. Just make sure you head to Jala City Hall before you make your way to El Ceboruco, as they require notification before anyone heads up to climb. When you're done, head to the all-inclusive luxury Mexican resort, Villa Estrella. There, you'll be pampered and provided for in a private beach-side paradise as you recover from your climb.
