Last Year’s Strangest Workout Trends – Are We Ready for 2023?

After all the strangest workout trends we saw last year, it’s safe to say that we’re ready for a fresh start with 2023. Every year comes with its own level of weirdness, but 2022 seemed to be working extra hard to outdo the years before it.

Consider the following among the strangest workout trends from 2022. These can help you to learn from the past. They’ll remind you that sometimes the latest fads aren’t necessarily good for you. Some of them are just meant to be fun. Some are meant to be a unique experience. All require a bit of advance research to be sure that the fun and quirkiness doesn’t place your health at risk.

Strangest Workout Trends of Last Year

Goat Yoga

Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like. Among the strangest workout trends 2022 had to offer was yoga with goats. While most of us tend to think of yoga as using focus on your body to heal your mind and body while improving your strength, balance and flexibility, some people also thought it was a good idea to add goats. The purpose was to add a natural component to the workout. Goats of different ages wandered around the mat or even climbed on people while they worked to remain grounded, focused and connected with themselves and the Earth. While these workouts may have been fun and unique, they didn’t take off in terms of actual effectiveness.

CBD in Virtually Every Product Type

CBD is the completely legal component of the cannabis plant. No matter how it’s used, it doesn’t produce a high. It has been added to capsules, edibles, creams, oils, lotions, vapes and pretty much everything else on the fitness shelves. The idea is to use these products to help reduce pain, boost focus, relax better and improve sleep. While all these components are important for improving a workout or its results, more research is required to prove that it can provide its claimed benefits. That said, it was easily a top ingredient for the year in wellness and fitness.

Extremely Cold Workouts

Hot workouts have been, well, hot for some time now. That said, among the strangest workout trends for last year were cold workouts – very cold workouts. These involved working out in temperatures that most people find quite uncomfortable and shiver inducing. That said, it is believed that working out in such temperatures builds fat and calorie burning. Moreover, it does encourage you to move around more if only to warm up, if not to actually complete the workout.
