Make sure your clothing is lightweight, breathable, and light in color. Polyester and nylon can be looser and more breathable than cotton, which can hold on to moisture instead of wicking it away and keeping you cool. If you can find one light enough with long sleeves, it’ll work wonders for keeping the sun off your skin. This will leave you feeling cooler than you would if those UV rays were beating directly down on you.

Check the weather before you head out and be sure to tell someone who is staying behind where you intend to go – even if you’re hiking with a group.
